a little ***sparkle***

hi there everyone :-)))

Kassa here (Kassa Hayselden)

tis my 1st post, i'm here till Christmastime, filling in a spot that's come spare for a couple or 3 months eeeeep!

and what better way to start than to colorise this cheeky beauty designed by the uber talented Leslie Wood'Creepy Fairy Walking Dog' (it just tickles me pink and makes me soooo happy coloring quirky designs like this one)

i had to pop the 'fairy' with the awesome 'Everywhere She Went' text quote - fairy dust 'n' sparkle 'n' all that...

also i used 3 stamps in my background that i just know will be out on my work top forever cos they are just the kinda stamps necessary for my kinda backgrounds - i was excited to get my hands on 'em, the scribbly scalloped border is 'Doodle Frame', random dots were created with 'Doodle Dots' and the tiny circles dotted here 'n' there is 'Design Open Circles

so i used my coloring pencils to build up layers and layers of lush color - my Faber Castell Polychromos & Caran d'Ache Pablo pencils - i always finish off with marker pens for that extra 'PoP'

the background color is mainly from the Tim Holtz Distress range, distress paints, distress mini stencil and Ranger Ink texture paste.  i added the background stamping with the VLVS randomly here and there to create a balance around the fairy and text quote (which btw i stamped onto old book page)

lastly i added splats, drips and the 'sparkly glitter' aka Stickles...

i'm soooo happy with this magical, sparkly cover for my Micro Journal, tis full of fun, color and happy art....

thanks for stopping by today, you can leave me some love if ya likes and if you want to find more of my 'Happy Art' here's where to look...

instagram - where i post the most :-)))
facebook - where i post frequently...
blog - where i post infrequently 'tut, tut, tut lol'

Air Mail !

Hi, Nikki here and today I wanted to share some mail art I created with a home made envelope.

I have an envelope maker and often use this instead of store bought plain white envelopes. Its so fun to use old magazines, since the background has already been started. I added a couple of stamps to the envelope and some sponging and doodling :

The Spinning Swing Ride stamped on the left, isnt it great, and perfect for some 'Air Mail' LOL.

I also used Admit one ticket, which I stamped and fussy cut and added on. I did some background stamping with bulls eye target stamps and added a label for the address.

This is my last creation for the Viva Las VegaStamps! DT, but I will be sticking around in the Facebook group facilitating the trades, if you would like to come and join us :)

Hugs, Nikki x

Bloom

Another fabulous Mail Art Monday!!  Michele here with a summery postcard.

Reminds you of summer doesn't it??  Here is how I did it.

I started with the hexagon stencil from Um Wow Studio.

I used a black pen and traced some of the hexagons on a piece of watercolor paper.

I stamped the Wildflower Silhouette a couple of times over the hexagons.

I stamped the Bumble Bee and got out my watercolor pencils and started coloring.

I used my water pen to blend.

I finished off with some splatters with Distress Spray.

I just love that fuzzy bumble bee!!

I used the Sawtooth Stitching Lines  to create the postcard on the back.

I stamped the Bloom where you are Planted sentiment and the Single Sunflower/small with another awesome bumble bee as my message, colored and viola!

Until next time...get inky!!

Art Journal Page by Jenn Engle

Hey everyone! Today I have a double page spread in my mini art journal.

STAMPS USED:

I started out with spraying Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Tibetan Poppy Teal all over my pages. When that was dry, I used a small circle stencil and texture paste randomly around the edge.

While that was drying, I stamp my Fed-Up Lady and colored her with Copic Markers. I also stamped Tired of Trying to Cram and took the time to cut out each line as well as the words in black.

I added some background stamping with the Mesh Texture stamp. This one one of my fave stamps to add a little subtle sumthin' sumthin' to the background.
Finally, I adhered everything down. The lady is sitting on some washi tape and a strip of painted deli paper. And that's it. Super simple, but super fun to make!
Thanks for looking!

"She Was a Dreamer" a Journal Page by Fiona

Hello my gorgeous VLVS peeps! Fiona here with you today to share a little art journal spread I created using the fabuloso rubber from Viva Las Vegastamps!!

So I have this little journal, well actually I think technically it's a sketch book but I never sketch in it, and it's got some of the most awesome paper in it that I have ever seen.

It is deliciously soft and absorbent with a very fine roughness to it. Not what you would normally think is the best quality paper for an art journal (cause it's probably not) but what I love about it is the fact that it's not perfect.

I can make the most organic backgrounds in it using some very basic techniques. this one is simply gesso spots and then a tiny amount of pigment powder over the top once it dried and sprayed with water to activate it!

Then I've dressed it up with some of my favourite stamps!

Here is a list of VLVstamps I've used:

Dreaming of Wonderland Mail Art

Hello again!

Tera here, with another fun Mail Art Monday...

Today I want to share some fun wonderland themed mail art (with a touch of Halloween inspiration).

To start I stamped Tweedledee and Tweedledum, as well as the 3 triangles. Then I masked them off. I also masked off the address box.

Next I layered purple distress inks over the whole background. I used punchenella waste as a stencil to add extra depth.  Before removing the masks, I flicked water over the envelope to add a touch of additional depth.

Once the water spots dried, I removed all of the masks. I added the wonderland and plus sign stamp to add extra details to the envelope.

To finish everything I used the zig clean color markers to color everything off.

Stamps Used:

TweedleDum And TweedleDee 2 3/4 x 3

Display purposes only

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog where today I have a mini canvas to share which I made for my DT post. I've also took lots of photos along the way and will tell you how I made this so sit down with a nice cuppa and enjoy !

As always I'll start with the finished project :

And here's how:

I started with a 4"x4" (10 cm x 10 cm) canvas.

I took a stencil and some model paste and applied it to the canvas with a palet knife.

This is how it looked, I dried it with a heat tool.

Next I painted it with white gesso to get a base for the paint.

These are the colours I used; I also added some white.

This is the painted version.. but I thought it was a bit flat so....

I decided to use some glazing liquid and a darker turquoise to add som shadows...

I used about half paint and half glazing liquid...

I painted it over the model pasted area. What happens is that because of the glazing liquid the paint stays wet for much longer. So you put it on, leave it a little while (how long depends on the temperature, the moisture in the air etc... just try and see) and then wipe off with a baby wipe.. It sort of settles on the recesses...

It is very subtle but gives a little bit of interes. You can keep doing this until your are happy with the result...

Next I took a Pitt pen and went along the edge of the canvas. The idea is to paint the sides black but it is not easy to get a straight-ish line with a brush. So I do this with a marker...

Like this...

The rest then gets painted....

Like so...

Now for some background stamping, not to much as there is not much room... A list of all the stamps I used is at the bottom of this post...

The canvas with stamping...

No for the main image and the sentiment..

At this point I wasn't sure about which sentiment to use... So I stamped both..

This is how she looks coloured...

I still thought the canvas was lacking something so I added white splatters. I just shake this paint pen at it and drops fly out... Be careful as they tend to go everywhere...

This looked better...

I chose this sentiment which is part of a sentiment really...

After adhering everything with gel medium and adding some shading around her I declared it finished.

I used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !!
