Guest Blogger : Sue Plumb X3

We are back with a 3rd project from the uber talented Sue Plumb! You can learn more about her from the 1st time she visited us.

Today she is sharing a journal page with us -- totally killer!

"This is a Paint-Me-Dori paintable fabric journal cover that I won as a prize at a scrapbooking retreat. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with it, until I was inspired by all the VLVS images I had stamped onto tissue paper (courtesy of Fiona Paltridge's stash).

I first gave the canvas cover a quick swipe of colour using a pale aqua acrylic paint; then cut out the images I wanted to use and applied them using a matte medium to create a collage.

The beauty of this method is that as the tissue paper dries, it virtually disappears into the background, leaving only the stamped image behind.

Once the cover was completely dry, I added splashes of colour using Posca paint pens and black and white gesso."

Here's a list of the stamps I used on this project:

Silently Correcting Your Grammar - by Cheetarah

Hi all, it's Cheetarah here at the VLVS! blog today and I am sharing this postcard I made. You might have noticed, I like to take the "tongue in cheek" approach to conventional celebrations (and really almost everything else in life ;) . With Halloween coming up, I thought about the most horrifying thing to "dress up as", and that would be a "belittling know it all" - far more annoyingly terrifying than any monster in my book! ;)

VLVS! has these AMAZING text stamps and the "I am silently correcting your grammar" is one of my favorites. As always full list of stamps is at the end of the post.

I started off by making a background with sticking left over bits and pieces to a card. And then roll over some distress paints in orange, smoke and yellow. Stamped over some wonderful mixed media stamps and spatters some liquitex while ink over it. I stamped the cute Whimsical Horned Boy on a coffee stained paper and colored it in with alcohol markers.

I stamped the sentiment also on the coffee stained paper and adhered the focal images to the card. Added some washi tape for more texture and to ground the image.

Lastly I added some gold spatters and a border with distress crayon in black soot.

Stamps used:
Whimsical Boy with Horns
Carved X's
Rows of numbers
Pile of bones and skulls

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Trick or Treat!

Only a couple more days until all hallows eve...do you have little trick or treaters dressing up this year??
Michele here today with a Halloween shaker card!!

These two stamps work perfectly together for this haunting shaker card.  I used The Moon and Kids in Costumes Silhouette.

I stamped the moon on transperancy to create the shaker part.  I used beads, sequins and Um Wow Studio star confetti in the skaker that I build up with a sheet of foam with a circle cut out to match the size of the moon.

Some awesome Brusho in yellow ochre colors the moon and distress ink stormy sky and blueprint sketch creates the night sky.

A bit of fussy cutting around the kids and a haunting we will go.

I stamped in archival ink which worked great on the transperancy.

And there you have it!
Until next time...get inky!

Born to be wild

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blogpost.  For today's post I have made an art journal spread.

I gelli printed the background straight in my journal using acrylic paints and stamps to get some texture..

I also stamped the background and added some stencilling and doodling.

This bird is still one of my favourite VivaLasVegaStamps! Stamps.

I have used the following stamps for these pages:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Guest Blogger : Sue Plumb x2!

Did you wonder if you were going to get a DOUBLE dose of Sue?? because YOU ARE! and in fact.. you'll be getting a TRIIIIPLE DOSE! Today we have a 2nd project from the fabulous Sue Plumb! You can view more about her in the first post HERE.

Sue has put together a really incredible art journal spread for us!

"This is art journal page I created featuring a photo of me with VLVS design member Fiona Paltridge that was taken at a recent retreat.

I started by laying down my bright background colour before adding the stamping directly onto the page.

I wanted to created a page where I could feature some of the fabulous Mary Vogel Lozinak whimsical "freak" stamps from plate #1383; so I created this to represent a shooting gallery, with myself and Fiona as the main targets.

Something Wicked

Hello everyone. Shanna here with some challenge inspiration!

I had a blast recreating the challenge inspiration. I haven't made a card lately and I needed some quick and simple to do. This challenge was it!

I decided to make a Halloween card to celebrate and since I haven't made a card in ages I thought this would be fun.

So first I gathered my supplies.

I started with he main image with black ink then added the moon stamp as well.

Then I inked the cardstock with Mustard Seed leaving it white around her to give a glow.

Then I did another layer with Dried Marigold.

Then I did Spiced Marmalade.

Then a layer of Hickory Smoke.

Next I added the trees with black ink as well.

I had some scrap print paper that I gave a coat of gesso.

Then stamped the sentiment Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Rubbed over it with some left over ink.

I had a scrap piece of tea bag paper and I tucked that behind the sentiment to give my card a little more. Then I used a tiny attacher to staple it to the card.

Then mounted the card with sticky tape and bam! You have yourself a Halloween card.

Here are some close up.

TGIF the 13th! - by Cheetarah

Hey all, it's Cheetarah here and I have a fun mixed media postcard to share with you for today. Since it's Friday the 13th I thought I would make a Halloween version of TGIF!
Little Nosferatu likes to unwind on friday the 13th and have brains for happy hour!
As usual a full list of stamps and materials used is at the end of this post.

I made this card on packaging, added other left over bits and pieces to it (I hate to waste stuff), applied gesso over it and worked with layers of distress paints. I also lightly added some texture paste over the Marbles stencil from the Crafter's Workshop to give it some "brain like mass" texture. Then stamped over it with some great mixed media and skulls stamps.

You can see the texture a lot better here. I have used distress crayons and pearl rubs in black and gold to give it shading. Nosferatu was stamped on a piece of sticker paper and "Brains fuck head" is made with two different stamps. I used letter stickers to form TGIF the 13th and lastly added some spatters in white and gold.

Hope this card made you chuckle and wishing you an awesome friday the 13th! (TGIF!)
